Emek Refaim/German Colony

The German Colony in Jerusalem is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city.  Take a walk down Emek Refaim with me and get a peek at this upscale and historic neighborhood. The "German" in "German Colony" comes from the area's founders, the Templars, a religious splinter group of German Protestants who in the mid-1800s left Germany for the Holy Land in anticipation of the imminent return of Jesus Christ and settled this area of the city.  Now the neighborhood is home to some of the most expensive real estate in Jerusalem and is sprinkled with great boutiques, cafes and restaurants serving a wide variety of tasty food.  It's a great place to eat, shop and stroll around the gorgeous streets and admire the amazing historic architecture.
